CASA 101: An Information Session for Potential Volunteers

For those who are interested in becoming a CASA volunteer and seeking more information…

CASA 101 will be held at the Family Services Center, 901 Avenue B

6:30 PM – 7:30 PM

We will discuss why volunteer advocates are so important and what exactly is expected of them to help a potential volunteer make a decision about whether this is the right volunteer opportunity for them.  Not everyone can commit the time required to doing the job at the best level; not everyone has the right skill set.  Being a CASA is not for everyone.  There are age requirements.  There are job requirements, even though there are no monetary wages.  There are some who have all the right skills but don’t really have the heart for it.  Some who have the heart for it have issues of their own that haven’t been dealt with that could hinder them.  If you are over 21 years of age, have some time, can communicate and build relationships with children, can communicate and build working relationships with adults, can read and write, consider yourself to be a lifelong learner, and have a desire to make a lifelong difference in the life of a child who has been removed from his or her home due to abuse/neglect, please join us January 9 at 6:30 PM.
